Testimonial (Review)
I have Type II Diabetes and have had a horrible time keeping blood sugar levels down. None of the oral medicines helped a lick, and although I ate well and exercised I couldn't keep them down (I was happy if they were as low as 250, usually they were 380 or even more than 400). Needless to say my doctor wasn't any happier than I. My Naturopath recommended Diaplex and Cataplex GTF, my doctor said go for it. I take 1-2 per meal and have kept it up for about 8 months now. It has been the only thing that seems to consistently lower my blood sugar. I'm in much better control now (around 140-160)and hope to keep improving with exercise etc. Very, very pleased with Diaplex! ~ By S. Nelson (Brigham City, Ut USA)

I buy diaplex for my husband's blood sugar and it really does work and so do the other standard process products I buy for my family. Thank God for Standard Process. ~ By James K. Hamlet

Who may need extra chromium?

What foods provide chromium? Chromium is commonly dispersed inside the foods provide, although the majority of meals produce merely small amounts (less compared to only two micrograms [mcg] per serving). Beef as well as whole-grain items, together with some fruits, produce, as well as seasoning tend to be comparatively very good places [12]. Compared, meals elevated in uncomplicated sugars (like sucrose as well as fructose) tend to be reduced chromium [13].

Nutritional intakes associated with chromium are not dependably decided as the written content with the mineral with meals is substantially troubled by gardening as well as making processes along with perhaps by means of toxic contamination together with chromium if your meals tend to be assessed [10, 12, 14]. Consequently, Dining room table 1, as well as food-composition listings typically, produce approximate ideals associated with chromium with meals which should merely serve as a guidebook.

Who may need extra chromium? There are reports of significant age-related decreases in the chromium concentrations of hair, sweat and blood [32], which might suggest that older people are more vulnerable to chromium depletion than younger adults [14]. One cannot be sure, however, as chromium status is difficult to determine [33]. That's because blood, urine, and hair levels do not necessarily reflect body stores [9,14]. Furthermore, no chromium-specific enzyme or other biochemical marker has been found to reliably assess a person's chromium status [9,34].

There is considerable interest in the possibility that supplemental chromium may help to treat impaired glucose tolerance and type 2 diabetes, but the research to date is inconclusive. No large, randomized, controlled clinical trials testing this hypothesis have been reported in the United States [14]. Nevertheless, this is an active area of research.

What are diabetes and what are symptoms of diabetes

What are Type 2 Diabetes

The body does not produce enough insulin for proper function, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin (insulin resistance).

Approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide are of this type.

Diabetes patient measuring glucose level in bloodMeasuring the glucose level in blood Some people may be able to control their type 2 diabetes symptoms by losing weight, following a healthy diet, doing plenty of exercise, and monitoring their blood glucose levels. However, type 2 diabetes is typically a progressive disease - it gradually gets worse - and the patient will probably end up have to take insulin, usually in tablet form.

Overweight and obese people have a much higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to those with a healthy body weight. People with a lot of visceral fat, also known as central obesity, belly fat, or abdominal obesity, are especially at risk. Being overweight/obese causes the body to release chemicals that can destabilize the body's cardiovascular and metabolic systems.

Being overweight, physically inactive and eating the wrong foods all contribute to our risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Drinking just one can of (non-diet) soda per day can raise our risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 22%, researchers from Imperial College London reported in the journal Diabetologia. The scientists believe that the impact of sugary soft drinks on diabetes risk may be a direct one, rather than simply an influence on body weight.

The risk of developing type 2 diabetes is also greater as we get older. Experts are not completely sure why, but say that as we age we tend to put on weight and become less physically active. Those with a close relative who had/had type 2 diabetes, people of Middle Eastern, African, or South Asian descent also have a higher risk of developing the disease.

Men whose testosterone levels are low have been found to have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, say that low testosterone levels are linked to insulin resistance

What are symptoms of diabetes

why diabetes symptoms are developing. Below are the some common type 2 diabetes symptoms:

  1. Frequent urination,
  2. Frequent thirst,
  3. Lack of energy and feeling tired,
  4. Usual too much hungry,
  5. Blurred eye vision,
  6. Dry and itchy skin,
  7. Losing sense or tingling in feet,
  8. Sore heals slowly,
  9. There is unusual sudden weight loss or gain.
If there is, any disturbance to this glucose homeostasis will lead to various bodily symptoms.
  1. Why are diabetics, pee often and in large quantities? - If the blood-sugar level get elevated and your body cells are unable to consume it. Then, these high-sugar level remains, until the kidney flush out this extra sugar in blood as urine (pee). Therefore, people with diabetes urinate frequently and/or in large quantities, urine often contains sugar, and other minerals (such as sodium, chloride, potassium, and bicarbonate).
  2. Why diabetics are having severe frequent Thirst? - The human body needs water to keep enough blood and other fluids. However, frequent urination leads to depletion of liquid called dehydration leads to shortage in saliva causing dry mouth and throat. Dehydration increases the osmotic blood pressure and lower blood volume. This makes the kidney to release of rennin angiotensin this stimulates the hypothalamus to signal thirst. Thus, diabetics have frequent thirst and need to drink often.
  3. Why Lack of Energy & Feeling Tired? - Inadequate insulin secretion or insulin resistance prevents the body to consume the available blood glucose. Additionally, kidney flushes out excess sugar and minerals (such as sodium, chloride, potassium, and bicarbonate) from the body meant for energy that gone unutilized. This lack of glucose absorption, removal of vital minerals and dehydration leads to lack of energy thus diabetic’s feel tired.
  4. Why diabetics are having too much hungry? - In almost 40% of people, the thirst mechanism is so weak that often mistaken for hunger. In addition, when you feel tired, your body signals for energy as hunger. This causes you feel hunger.
  5. Why diabetics are having blurred vision? – Those who unknowing having diabetes are often happy to note that they do not need glasses anymore to see distance objects (mostly people with myopia or Shortsightedness). This is because, increase or decrease in blood-sugar level makes the eye lens and (or) corneal tissue to swell or shrink respectively, results in varying vision. Others may find their vision turns blur; with respect to how high the blood-sugar level is. With proper treatment if the blood-sugar level returns to normal, blurred vision (or sometime clear vision) disappears.
  6. Why diabetics are having dry and itchy skin? - Dehydration and inadequate supply of nutrients to the skin makes it, lose its lust and shine. Furthermore, the dehydrated skin result is dull, flaky, rough, and dry skin. Which makes the skin itchy?
  7. Why diabetics are losing sense or tingling in their feet? - Numbness or tingling sensation among healthy individuals when they sit in a position for extended time. This is due to short supply in blood circulation to these areas. Similarly, diabetics with high blood sugar levels are generally short supply of nutrients to the extremities causing numbness or tingling sensation over the feet.
  8. Why are diabetics, Sores heals slowly? - Healing takes longer due to low nutrient supply. In addition, the immune system does not work efficiently in case of high blood sugar, because of the interactions between various hormones and enzymes. Thus, diabetics sore takes longer to heal.
  9. Why is diabetic loss or gain weight? - Some lose weight because of low consumption of the blood glucose due to inadequate insulin. Some with diabetes gain weight because of frequent hunger, continuous dumping of food items and unnecessary fat storage. Thus, diabetics have sudden weight loss or weight gain.

Too little sleep can affect hormones and metabolism in ways that promote diabetes.

In the past decade, there has been growing evidence that too little sleep can affect hormones and metabolism in ways that promote diabetes. According to a study published in the Lancet in 1999, healthy men with a week of impaired sleep –- only four hours a night –- showed dramatic changes in glucose tolerance. They also had higher-than-normal glucose levels after just one week. This study involved healthy people with no previous record of insulin resistance or history of diabetes.

For those already diagnosed with diabetes, sleep deprivation leads to extremely poor blood sugar control. These studies do not include control factors of the snowball effect that often starts with losing a night's sleep. Sleepy people don't usually reach for healthy foods as snacks and meals. They don't usually choose to walk during their lunch break -– or head to the weight room after work. Tight glucose control involves nutrition and exercise parameters, and both of those are adversely affected by just one night of impaired sleep.

If you’re skimping on sleep to wake up extra early and squeeze in a workout, you may be doing your body more harm than good. A study published in Sleep Medicine Reviews showed that even partial sleep loss leads to a deregulation of appetite control and can even increase your risk for obesity and diabetes.

Diabetes and Sleep: What's the Connection?

In the past decade, there has been growing evidence that too little sleep can affect hormones and metabolism in ways that promote diabetes, Knutson tells WebMD.

She cites a 1999 Lancet study by colleagues at the University of Chicago. The researchers monitored the blood sugar levels of 11 healthy young men who were allowed only four hours of sleep per night -- from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. -- for six nights.

"That study showed that after only a week of short bedtimes, their glucose tolerance was impaired. There could be dramatic effects even after only a week," according to Knutson

After 6 nights of little sleep, the men had higher-than-normal blood sugar levels. (The levels were not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes, however). The effects went away once the men were back on their normal sleep schedule.

Experts also believe that chronic sleep deprivation may lead to elevated levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Elevated cortisol may in turn promote insulin resistance, in which the body can't use the hormone insulin properly to help move glucose into cells for energy.

"That is on the pathway to developing diabetes," Knutson tells WebMD.

Further, research shows that sleep loss reduces levels of the hormone leptin, an appetite suppressant, while boosting levels of ghrelin, an appetite stimulant. That's a poor combination that may prompt sleep-deprived people to eat more.

And most sleep deprived people don't snack on fruits and vegetables, Knutson points out. Instead, they tend to crave high-carbohydrate foods, such as salty, fatty potato chips. This is not just bad for your waistline, but also your diabetes outlook.

"If you add overweight to the mix, you could possibly increase your risk of developing diabetes," Knutson says.

Pay attention to what you eat and drink before bedtime. Try not to go to bed ravenous or stuffed. Be aware that a glass of wine might help calm the nerves, but metabolizing alcohol keeps the body in an alert mode while the mind is trying to snooze. Have that glass of wine earlier in the evening. And yes, eating bad pizza right before bed can cause nightmares. So can stuffing yourself with any food minutes before trying to sleep. Your body is trying to do two things: metabolize food and sleep. The food is going to win, and that's a cause for dreams and other disruptions to quality sleep.

GT&F® and Diabetes

Diabetes Mellitus is caused by high blood glucose. High blood glucose condition will lead to a fragile blood vessel, thus developing complication of blood circulatory and nervous system. Type 2 diabetes has been thought to be caused by insufficient insulin secretion or ineffective utilization of insulin in human body. However, recent medical research discovered that the lacking of GTF is the main cause of type 2 diabetes.

Insulin resistance is characterized mainly by the weak responsiveness of tissues to insulin. It is a known risk factor leading to the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. (Chen et al., 2009)

When blood glucose level increases, insulin level will also increase. In the presence of suitable amount of chromium in usable form, chromium will potentiating the action of insulin. Therefore, less insulin is required and circulating insulin declines with a corresponding stabilization of glucose concentration level. (Anderson et al., 1991)

Chromium, as the central part of Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF), enhances the effect of insulin in the body. This factor improves glucose tolerance and insulin efficacy. Nutritecks Organic GTF contains high levels of organic chromium that is available for GTF. Chromium deficiency in humans leads to symptoms associated with diabetes such as glucose intolerance, unexpected weight losses and impaired nerve conduction.

Chromium is an essential trace mineral required for normal sugar and fat metabolism. Organic chromium potentiates the action of insulin and is the active component of a substance called GTF (glucose tolerance factor), along with vitamin B3 and amino acids. Chromium occurs primarily in the trivalent and hexavalent forms; the form in higher organisms is trivalent.

This mineral occurs throughout the body with highest concentrations in the liver, kidney, spleen and bone. chromium group can significantly enhance insulin and protentiating the action of insulin thus leading to uptake of glucose into cell by opening the gate of membrane cell. With this, glucose is converted into energy for conducting body functions.

Is it possible to meet the daily required chromium with diet only?

Our modern diets have an excess of refined carbohydrates that have stripped of more than 90% of chromium content. The average chromium content per 1000 kcal of food is about 13.4μg. Assuming a mean chromium content of 15μg per 1000 kcal, then more than 3000 kcal will have to be consumed daily to meet the minimum adequate intake of chromium which is 50μg. This is an excessive caloric intake*. The chromium intake by people nowadays is generally far below the borderline. In America for instance, the average daily intake of chromium is only 25-33μg2.

GT&F® Milk Powder is a special formulated GTF (Glucose Tolerance Factor) supplement. It is made by blending trivalent chromium, whey protein concentrated and New Zealand best grade milk powder to mimic the bioactivity of colostrums GTF plus chromium.

Cr3+ vesus Cr6+ : Which One Best For Health?

Trivalent chromium, or some people might known it as Cr3+ (3 because it is tri- in its prefix) is the one exists within GT&F Products. But there are many outsiders who have yet know about these magnificent products, and at times, they would relate the products with another type of chromium, which is known as hexavalent chromium, or Cr6+. Which in contrast, hexavalent chromium is hazardous to human health. It is especially linked strongly to lung cancer as it is a genotoxic carcinogens.

Eye Research Laboratories, University of Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.
Received 20 November 1964. Available online 25 September 2006. The effects of trivalent chromium and insulin upon the glucose utilization of isolated rat lenses were studied. It was found that trace amounts of trivalent chromium are essential for the stimulatory effect that insulin exerts upon glucose metabolism of the lens. The significance of the findings is discussed.

This investigation was supported in part by a PHS research grant (AM-06966) from the National Institute of Arthritis and Metabolic Diseases, U.S. Public Health Service.

Their preliminary studies have demonstrated that the ketone body acetoacetate (AA) can generate superoxide radicals and increase secretion of IL-6 and TNF-a in a cell culture model using U937 monocytes; that oxidative stress and levels of IL-6 and TNF-a are higher in the blood of hyperketonemic compared with normoketonemic type 1 diabetic patients; and that chromium (Cr3+) inhibits the secretion of TNF-a and IL-6 caused by AA in a cell culture model. This proposal has two hypotheses. The first is that ketosis increases blood levels of markers of vascular inflammation in type 1 diabetes. The second is that Cr3+ supplementation can prevent/lower blood levels of vascular inflammation markers in type 1 diabetes.

BUT, Hexavalent chromium can be found in either surface or groundwater sources, and those sources can either be man-made or natural. Marhaba, a professor and chairman of the department of civil and environmental engineering and director of the New Jersey Applied Water Research Center at NJIT, advised that by installing a five-stage reverse osmosis home unit which could effectively filter these hazardous hexavalent chromium.

Minimizing the Use of Hexavalent Chromium.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), exposure to Cr6+ may cause cancer in the lungs, kidneys and intestines, irritation or damage to the respiratory system, and irritation or damage to the eyes and skin.

On Feb. 28, 2006, OSHA lowered the regulatory permissible exposure limit of workers to Cr6+ from 50 micrograms per cubic meter (mg/m3) of air to 5 mg/ m3 of air. Additionally, Cr6+ has been included on the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive since February 2003, which has reduced the use of Cr6+ in the European Union.

Substantial additional national and international restrictions and controls are anticipated for Cr6+’s future use and management. Cr6+ use has caused significant
issues in both industry and government operations.

Diabetes in Malaysia being Increasing

Sarawak still have the lowest number of diabetics in this country even if the case is being developed nationally, said Professor Emeritus Dato 'Mustaffa Embong, President of the implementation committee Diabetes Asia 2010 Conference and Workshop 9.

Statistics also show that urban populations are more vulnerable to disease, "he said.

In an exclusive interview with The Borneo Post last, and Professor Mustaffa described cases of diabetes in this country as "evil" and the epidemic stage.

He said that in the 1950's and 60's, diabetes is only one percent of the population.

"It has increased rapidly in the last decade to 17 percent today, and continues to increase," he said.

The disease is not reversible and the contract for genetic or lifestyle factors.

He said one reason for the increase in diabetes is that people are living longer, and through marriage, they passed the gene to their children.

On the other hand, some people are not in high-risk groups, such as they are not large, but contracted diabetes because of their lifestyle.

Professor Mustaffa also noted that another concern is that more than 95 percent of cases of diabetes in Pakistan is type II, even in children.

"They're younger. Not so much because of genetic factors, but they are overweight and inactive," he said.

Elaborating, he said no type I and type II diabetes.

"Type I frequently occurs in children and type II among individuals at higher genetic groups of type I. If the old type II, the children may be more likely to have diabetes type II as well," added Professor Mustaffa, who is also a member of equipment from the National Diabetes Institute (Nadi).

Type I diabetes treated with insulin injections and type II, oral medications are used.

"We can not cure diabetes. Once you have it, you have to live It is said that herbal medicine can cure .. But this does not happen. If not, I would be rich now," he said.

"The best way to prevent diabetes from getting worse and prevent complications are the purpose of treating people to prevent complications and prevent the worst .. worst case scenario is to die early, but if you treat yourself right, then you may live to old age."

The most important thing is for diabetic patients to change their attitude and stop doing things detrimental to their health, "he said. They must be very responsible for themselves and control their food intake, watch their weight control and exercise regularly.

"You can not become overweight or obesity would be difficult for insulin to work We insist on training. To lose weight medical help control diabetes, but drugs are not enough .. If we do not control diet and physical activity, diabetes will only get worse most of all ,. of a healthy lifestyle, not just the diabetes, but also to keep other chronic diseases from a distance, "advises Professor Mustaffa.

Diabetes Type-2 and Daily Healthy Blood Sugar Balance

Type 2 diabetes can often be managed by carefully monitoring your diet. According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may be helpful:

Aim for total nutrition with a multivitamin
Help ensure your body is getting the vitamins and minerals it needs to help prevent common infections

Check out chromium
Improve glucose tolerance by taking 200 to 1,000 mcg of this essential trace mineral every day

Fight back with fiber
Under a doctor's supervision, stabilize your blood sugar by eating fiber from whole grains, beans (legumes), vegetables, and fruit, and consider using a fiber supplement such as glucomannan or psyllium

Use a topical ointment

An ointment containing 0.025 to 0.075% capsaicin four times a day might help control nerve pain

Improve and protect with ALA
Take 600 to 1,200 mg a day of an alpha lipoic acid supplement to improve insulin sensitivity and help protect against diabetic complications such as nerve damage

Eat five fruits and vegetables every day.
Have a piece of fruit or two as a snack, or add vegetables to chili, stir-fried dishes or stews. You can also pack raw vegetables for lunch or snacks.

GTF are require for bone : Calcium Alone is not Enough for Healthy Bones

Silica (from horsetail and/or shavegrass) works with calcium to maintain strong bones and is especially effective in combination with GTF. GTF Chromium (which stands for Glucose Tolerance Factor Chromium) is made by fermenting nutritional yeast with chromium.

As you know, Chromium is a constituent ingredient of what is called the Glucose Tolerance Factor. It works closely with insulin to facilitate the uptake of glucose into cells. In individuals with impaired glucose tolerance, such as those with diabetes, hypoglycemia, and obesity, supplementation with chromium is of paramount importance. Without chromium, blood sugar levels stay elevated because the action of insulin is blocked so that glucose is not transported into the cells.

In addition:

* Serotonin has been shown in recent studies to be an important factor for bone density. L-tryptophan is a good supplement to boost serotonin.

* Inositol/IP6 modulates the behavior of bone-forming and bone-destroying cells.

* Besides being an excellent pathogen destroyer, Colloidal Silver also helps bone, tissue and nerve regeneration.

* Dandelion Tea and Red Clover help build bone density. Other herbs that can help build your bones include Chaste Berry, Dong Quai, Black Cohosh and Sesame seeds.

Diet and exercise are also vital for bone health. A poor diet lacking essential vitamins and minerals contributes to osteoporosis. Regular exercise helps maintain healthy bones; whereas, lack of exercise will result in weak bones and loss of bone mass.

Caution:
Do not take bone drugs for osteoporosis. Evidence has shown that they produce abnormal bone growth, make bones more brittle and can have serious and even life threatening side effects! See:

Stevia stimulates the release of insulin and normalizes the response to glucose type 2 diabetes

Stevia has been widely used as sweeteners and health supplements in Japan, Korea, Canada and the United States. Japan and Korea using Stevia extracts have been used for more than 30 years as a natural sweetener in carbonated drinks, fruit juices, health and sports drinks, yogurt, and pudding desserts, snacks, sweets, chocolate, pastry, noodles, soy sauce , pickles, and biscuits. More than 150 medical studies confirm that Stevia is not toxic and safe for human consumption. Stevia is also used to treat diabetes and hypertension in Germany and Japan.

Dr. Patrick B. Massey has noted in the Daily Herald (May 20, 2002): "Stevia has some very interesting properties. It has no calories but has actions similar to several currently used medications. It stimulates the release of insulin and normalizes the response to glucose, especially in type 2 diabetes. It is used in Latin America as an inexpensive therapy for hyperglycemia”

In 1986, Brazilian researchers from the Universities of Maringa and Sao Paolo evaluated the role of Stevia in blood sugar (Curi, 1986). Sixteen healthy volunteers were given extracts of 5 grams of Stevia leaves every six hours for three days. The extracts from the leaves were prepared by immersing them in boiling water for 20 minutes. A glucose tolerance test (GTT) was performed before and after the administration of the extract and the results were compared to another group who did not receive the Stevia extracts.

During a GTT, patients are given a glass of water with glucose and their blood sugar levels are evaluated over the next few hours. Those who have a predisposition to diabetes will have a marked rise in blood sugar levels.

The volunteers on Stevia were found to have significantly lower blood sugar levels after ingestion of Stevia. This is a positive indication that a can potentially be beneficial to diabetics who substitute Stevia in order to decrease their sugar consumption.

You can read more about pure stevia which is able act as stevia sweeteners, please read at http://putrajaya-stevia-sweetener.blogspot.com/

Diabetic Diet -- To Beat & Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

Don't Let This Happen to You! Amputation, Blindness, Kidney Failure, Ulcers, Heart Attack, Stroke.

Insulin slowly eats away major arterial linings. Most diabetics die from heart attacks not diabetes. That's why diabetes causes millions of people to suffer the loss of quality of life. Thanks to discoveries in the new science of natural medicine, diabetes may soon be a thing of the past.If you don't have acute pancreatitis, kidney or other major organ failure. If you are willing to make some dietary adjustments.

Added to insulin is high blood sugar levels which harm your smaller blood vessels and nerve endings.

The Diabetes Reversal Report works exceptionally well if:
- You are insulin resistant or have diabetes Type 2
- If you have recently (within 7 years) been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and are under age
- If you do not smoke excessively, take multiple drugs or drink more alcohol than average.

Starchy vegetables, cereals, and breads are good sources of starch. Regardless of what others may think, diabetic experts encourage patients to eat starchy foods in the right amounts. This is required by the body, especially for diabetic patients whose bodies can't produce the necessary amount of blood sugar that it needs for fuel.

Milk is a good source of protein. A good diabetic diet accounts for around 15-20% protein intake. However, never exceed the 20% limit as doing so may cause complications like renal diseases. Roasted nuts are good sources of protein as well.

here are different types of sugar. To be sure, don't eat processed sweets like cakes, pastries, chocolates, and candies.Vegetables are vital to any healthy diet.Aside from that, the fiber found in vegetables may also help slow down the absorption of glucose from the intestines.Vegetables are sources of vitamins, minerals, and fiber that can help metabolize glucose. This food group is always a necessary, regardless if you're diabetic or not.

Stick to naturally sweet foods like honey, fruits, and fresh juices.Diabetic patients are prone to developing thicker blood so added cholesterol in your food is not going to help your heart. This means that there should be no traces of fat included in your meals. Some of them are beneficial, while others are not.

Consumption of sweets and sugar foods should be reduced, if you can't take it out of your diet completely. The skin of the chicken should be disposed of and the traces of animal fats should be taken out.Lean meat is a must for people with diabetes. They should be removed prior to food preparation.

Reverse Diabetes based on Symptoms Diabetes

DIABETES FACTS
Why Type II Diabetes Gets Worse Over Time? Because you are treating the wrong thing. You are not medicating to get rid of your diabetes. You are not medicating to cure your disease. You’re medication does not address or handle what is actually causing your diabetes. And therein lies the problem. Your standardly administered course of treatment does not get to the root of what is causing, and continues to cause your diabetes. That is why, over time, your diabetes continues to get worse. And you end up taking more and more medication to ‘control’ your blood sugar and to ‘manage’ your diabetes; the diabetes that you have been told that you have to live with for the rest of your life

The following is a streamlined list of issues that can contribute to the worsening of diabetes – especially if left unchecked or untreated:
• Clinical or subclinical thyroid malfunction
• Stress
• Inflammation
• Auto-Immune issues
• Nutritional/Vitamin/Mineral deficiencies
• Infections (even undetected intestinal parasitic infections)
• Poor diet
• Not eating enough or eating too much
• Adrenal gland insufficiency
• Hormone imbalance
• Liver toxicity
• Altered sleep cycles or not enough sleep
In many instances, people with diabetes are suffering from not one, but several of the above mentioned issues. As long as those functional problems are present and not being addressed by your health care practitioner, your diabetes will get worse. Your blood sugar problems are simply one of many issues, and often a ‘symptom’ of many of these issues. Simply taking a pill or injecting insulin does NOT address the real problem. Get to the real problems and you CAN reverse your diabetes.

WHAT IS SYMPTOMS DIABETES?
Frequent trips to the bathroom:
Are you visiting the bathroom much more lately? Does it seem like you urinate all day long? Urination becomes more frequent when there is too much glucose in the blood. If insulin is nonexistent or ineffective, the kidneys can't filter glucose back to the blood. They become overwhelmed and try to draw extra water out of the blood to dilute the glucose. This keeps your bladder full and it keeps you running to the bathroom.

Unquenchable Thirst:
If it feels like you can't get enough water and you're drinking much more than usual, it could be a sign of diabetes, especially if it seems to go hand in hand with frequent urination. If your body is pulling extra water out of your blood and you're running to the bathroom more, you will become dehydrated and feel the need to drink more to replace the water that you are losing.

Losing Weight Without Trying:
This symptom is more noticeable with Type 1 diabetes. In Type 1, the pancreas stops making insulin, possibly due to a viral attack on pancreas cells or because an autoimmune response makes the body attack the insulin producing cells. The body desperately looks for an energy source because the cells aren't getting glucose. It starts to break down muscle tissue and fat for energy. Type 2 happens gradually with increasing insulin resistance so weight loss is not as noticeable.

Weakness and Fatigue:
It's that bad boy glucose again. Glucose from the food we eat travels into the bloodstream where insulin is supposed to help it transition into the cells of our body. The cells use it to produce the energy we need to live. When the insulin isn't there or if the cells don't react to it anymore, then the glucose stays outside the cells in the bloodstream. The cells become energy starved and you feel tired and run down.

Tingling or Numbness in Your Hands, Legs or Feet:
This symptom is called neuropathy. It occurs gradually over time as consistently high glucose in the blood damages the nervous system, particularly in the extremities. Type 2 diabetes is a gradual onset, and people are often not aware that they have it. Therefore, blood sugar might have been high for more than a few years before a diagnosis is made. Nerve damage can creep up without our knowledge. Neuropathy can very often improve when tighter blood glucose control is achieved.

Other Signs and Symptoms That Can Occur:
Blurred vision, skin that is dry or itchy, frequent infections or cuts and bruises that take a long time to heal are also signs that something is amiss. Again, when these signs are associated with diabetes, they are the result of high glucose levels in the body. If you notice any of the above signs, schedule an appointment with your doctor. He or she will be able to tell you if you have reason to be concerned about a diagnosis of diabetes.

WHAT IS REVERSE DIABETES
Keep in mind that diabetic condition is reversible. You must try to treat it with diet and lifestyle change.

Diabetes can be reversed at times through weight loss and exercise--I have many patients who have done it on their own. If it was caused by medications, it can also often be reversed by stopping the medications.

HOW REVERSE DIABETES WORKS
The most important aspect to consider, it is the fact that diabetes is reversible and no matter what you have heard before, you can and should try to control it with diet, medications or insulin, so you can start forgetting about being a diabetic forever.
A) Eliminating consumption of refined sugars and grains
B) Taking slowly point A, Do not quit unhealthy foods abruptly.
C) Getting off of antidepressant drugs
D) Increasing your consumption of plant-based fats
E) Taking quality nutritional products that provide minerals in natural and bio-available forms
F) Controlling blood sugar with herbs, spices and nutritional supplements
G) Picking up the habit of regular exercise

Chromium Oligopeptide Activates Insulin Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Activity

A possible new mechanism for the amplification of insulin receptor tyrosine kinase activity in response to insulin has been identified.

The chromium-containing oligopeptide low molecular weight chromium-binding substance (LMWCr) does not effect the tyrosine protein kinase activity of rat adipocytic membrane fragments in the absence of insulin; however, insulin-stimulated kinase activity in the membrane fragments is increased up to 8-fold by the oligopeptide.

Using isolated rat insulin receptor, LMWCr has been shown to bind to insulin-activated insulin receptor with a dissociation constant of circa 250 pM, resulting in the increase of its tyrosine protein kinase activity.

The ability of LMWCr to stimulate insulin receptor tyrosine kinase activity is dependent on its chromium content. The results appear to explain the previously poorly understood relationship between chromium and adult-onset diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Tyrosine Kinase : Mouse Study Suggests Type 2 Diabetes Potential Treatment

THURSDAY, Dec. 17 (HealthDay News) -- Researchers in Brazil have found that the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor PD153035 improves insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance in mice fed on a high-fat diet, and may offer a treatment approach for type 2 diabetes, according to a study in the December issue of Diabetes.

Patricia O. Prada, of the State University of Campinas in Brazil, and colleagues put mice on a high-fat diet for eight weeks, then administered PD153035 by tube to the mice for two weeks. They conducted glucose tolerance tests and insulin tolerance tests, as well as tests for biomarkers of inflammation.

The researchers found that treatment with PD153035 for a single day reduced the protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and interleukin (IL)-6, pointing to a reduction of the proinflammatory state in the adipose tissue macrophages. With two weeks of continued treatment, the mice exhibited a marked improvement in glucose tolerance, as well as improved insulin signaling and reduced insulin resistance.

What is PD153035?

PD153035 is reported to be a specific and potent inhibitor of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor tyrosine kinase and, to a lesser degree, of the closely related HER2/neu receptor. We show that PD153035 inhibits EGF-dependent EGF receptor phosphorylation and suppresses the proliferation and clonogenicity of a wide panel of EGF receptor-overexpressing human cancer cell lines.

A tyrosine kinase is an enzyme that can transfer a phosphate group from ATP to a tyrosine residue in a protein. Tyrosine kinases are a subgroup of the larger class of protein kinases. Phosphorylation of proteins by kinases is an important mechanism in signal transduction for regulation of enzyme activity.

EGF receptor autophosphorylation in response to exogenous EGF was completely inhibited at PD153035 concentrations of >75 nM in cells overexpressing the EGF receptor. In contrast, PD153035 only reduced heregulin-dependent tyrosine phosphorylation in HER2/neu-overexpressing cell lines at significantly higher concentrations (1400-2800 nM). PD153035 exposure did not affect the expression of either EGF receptors or HER2/neu.

PD153035 caused a dose-dependent growth inhibition of EGF receptor-overexpressing cell lines at low micromolar concentrations, and the IC50 in monolayer cultures was less than 1 microM in most cell lines tested. At doses of up to 2.5 microM, the IC50 for HER2/neu-overexpressing cells was not reached. In colony-forming assays, the PD153035 growth-inhibitory activity in cultures driven by endogenous (autocrine) ligand was correlated with EGF receptor number, with higher activity in cells expressing higher numbers of EGF receptors and only minimal activity in cells expressing normal numbers of EGF receptors but high HER2/neu levels.

PD153053 also abolished all growth effects mediated by the addition of exogenous EGF; this condition could be reversed upon removal of the compound. Cotreatment with C225, an anti-EGF receptor-blocking monoclonal antibody, further enhanced the antitumor activity of PD153035, suggesting mechanisms of action for C225 other than competition with ligand binding. This latter finding also suggests that combined anti-EGF receptor strategies may be of enhanced benefit against tumors with high levels of EGF receptor expression.

Chromium and Vanadium for Diabetics

Vanadium is a curious trace element and somewhat difficult to write about. It is a little known trace mineral which seems to be required by the body in relatively tiny amounts, and it is not even clear that it is absolutely necessary at all. But there is nevertheless increasing excitement about its potential therapeutic value. Low blood levels of vanadium have been associated with increases in cholesterol and blood sugar, and it is also believed by some researchers that the mineral may play a role in maintaining the vital balance between sodium and potassium in cells. These characteristics of vanadium have led to speculation that it may act as a protector against heart disease, cancer and especially diabetes.

The idea that vanadium may be of benefit in the battle against diabetes is of relatively recent origin, the first animal research findings only coming to light in the 1980s. But it has been the cause of great excitement. Initial findings suggested that vanadium could control artificially induced diabetes in animals, but orthodox medical opinion remains cautious about the applicability of this research to humans. Some nutritional therapists and practitioners, however, have rushed to embrace vanadium's potential, insisting that high dose vanadium supplements can reduce levels of fasting blood sugar, as well as those of low density lipids (LDLs), the so-called "bad cholesterol" which is strongly associated with atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

Advocates of vanadium therapy also maintain that the mineral can reduce the need for extra insulin in both Type 1 and Type 2 (late onset) diabetes. The problem, however, is that it is difficult to obtain a high intake of vanadium from food alone, and that the mineral in supplement form appears to be relatively poorly absorbed by the body. Moreover, there is evidence that the very high doses required to obtain the therapeutic effects sought may bring unwelcome and potentially serious side effects in their wake; including kidney problems.

This is perhaps not so surprising when it is considered that whilst a fairly typical diet might provide perhaps 50 mcg of vanadium daily, the suggested supplementary doses may be as much as 100 mg; that is 2,000 times the normal daily intake. Whilst potentially beneficial, such doses represent a considerable shock to the system and it is therefore strongly recommended that they be undertaken only under qualified supervision.

Here we have more powerful proof that the trace elements provide a natural cure for diabetes - and many other diseases. In this article, chromium supplementation has been found to provide dramatic improvement - up to and including freedom from all symptoms - in diabetes. However, in another direction of research initiated by Prof. John McNeill at UBC, the trace element vanadium had been found to provide just as dramatic improvements (see "MIRACLE METAL" in "References").

This proves and underscores my assertion that not only one or two trace elements, but the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements is needed for our naturally robust health. Of course, neither chromium nor vanadium are recognized by our modern agriculture, and are therefore either severely deficient or absent in agricultural soils, hence in all of their products, and hence again, in practically all of our daily food. And as asserted here in these pages, a daily serving of seafood is a natural source of the complete range of the 72+ trace elements, and will provide not only the same, but far, far better results than either chromium or vanadium alone.

The positive effects of vanadium at first appeared promising. Vanadium can improve sensitivity to insulin in both Type I and Type 2 diabetes. It has been shown in human studies to have some ability to lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Areas of the world where vanadium (and selenium) levels are high in the soil have lower rates of heart disease. After oral intake, effects of the mineral are seen weeks to months later due to its accumulation in tissues like the kidneys and bone.

Vanadium has been shown to lower growth of human prostate cancer cells in tissue cultures, and to reduce bone cancer and liver cancer in animals. These widespread effects on cancer and diabetes, along with the protective effect seen with another trace mineral, selenium, on certain cancers, suggest that trace minerals are likely to come under more scrutiny for potential health benefits and toxicity.

Unfortunately, vanadium's effects are not all positive. Vanadium works by blocking dozens of enzymes, including ribonucleases, mutases, kinases, and synthases. This indiscriminate blocking action has the potential to be both positive and negative.

Dr. Alavattam Sreedhara originally at Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India, and now at Ohio State University has been doing research on vanadium1,2,3 for several years. He and fellow researchers have discovered several disturbing effects form vanadium, including damage to DNA, blocking of protein synthesis, as well as oxidation of lipids, which is considered a primary step in the development of cardiovascular disease.

But as ever, all of these minerals of course work at optimal effectiveness in the presence of adequate amounts of all the nutrients required by the body; and are best taken as part of a comprehensive multi-vitamin and multi-mineral supplement regime.

GTF Can protect Our Liver

Prof Dr Frank Mao once again worked with his research in depth with his partner. From their research that made great strides the trivalent chromium can protect body from liver damage.

GTF Chromium serves as aliver protective agent againts cholestasis-related liver damage because:
1. Chromium consist of anti-oxidative capacity taht can reduce liver damage
2. Chromium helps to reduce inflammation and thus avoid complications of inflammation to the liver
3. Chromium improve the function of liver and help to regain a healthy liver

National Chung Hsing University Professor Mao Jiahong Jiate Fu biotechnology companies with the industry-academia cooperation, after 12 years of experimental results and found that milk protein binding of chromium and lactoferrin, can effectively control blood sugar, reduce insulin resistance pre-inflammatory factor and generation, and to blood glucose to enter cells, where a large number of fast, better energy metabolism, help to improve high blood sugar problems.

There are many people in China suffering from high blood sugar, however, the National Chung Hsing University Professor Mao Jiahong milk chromium was found inside the blood sugar can increase the role of cellular signals, and can control high blood sugar problems, provides a new adjustment.

Professor Mao Jiahong National Chung Hsing University, said most of the high blood sugar because of diet, stress and lifestyle factors caused, which led to an increase the body's inflammatory factors, insulin resistance, and high blood sugar regulating undesirable phenomenon, therefore, by chromium from the milk can not only reduce the inflammation factor, increasing the sensitivity of cells to allow glucose in patients with high blood sugar be effectively controlled, while also making them feel the spirit and energy to improve.

In addition, this study has also been in last year's "Diabetes, obesity, metabolism" (Diabetes, Obesity, Metabolism) internationally renowned medical journal.

Oral Glucose Tolerance Test

The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) measures the body's ability to use a type of sugar, called glucose, that is the body's main source of energy. An OGTT can be used to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes. An OGTT is most commonly done to check for diabetes that occurs with pregnancy (gestational diabetes).

Glucose intolerance is a mild form of pre-diabetes in which pregnant women have slightly higher blood sugar levels than normal on the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OCT), a standard prenatal test usually given to women toward the end of their second trimester. Results indicating gestational glucose intolerance aren't usually considered as serious as if the mother has gestational diabetes, since glucose intolerance is fairly mild and can be controlled through diet

Why It Is Done
The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is done to:

Check pregnant women for gestational diabetes. When done for this purpose, the test is called a glucose challenge screening test, and it is usually done during the 24th to the 28th week of pregnancy. You have an increased chance of developing gestational diabetes if you:
Have had gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy.
Have previously given birth to a baby who weighed more than 8.8lb.
Are younger than age 25 and were overweight before getting pregnant.
Confirm the presence of gestational diabetes if other blood glucose measurements are high.
Screen women who have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) for diabetes.
Diagnose prediabetes and diabetes.

Glucose tolerance diagnostic test
To prepare for the glucose tolerance diagnostic test:

Eat a balanced diet that contains at least 150 to 200 grams (g) of carbohydrate per day for 3 days before the test. Fruits, breads, cereals, grains, rice, crackers, and starchy vegetables such as potatoes, beans, and corn are good sources of carbohydrate.
Do not eat, drink, smoke, or exercise strenuously for at least 8 hours before your first blood sample is taken.
Tell your health professional about all prescription and nonprescription medicines you are taking. You may be instructed to stop taking certain medicines before the test.
The glucose tolerance diagnostic test may take up to 4 hours. Since activity can interfere with test results, you will be asked to sit quietly during the entire test. Do not eat during the test. You may drink only water during this time.
